Even slices, made simple. A hand-crank bread slicer for homemade sourdough and crusty artisan loaves — set the thickness once, turn the crank, and every slice comes out the same.

The AltitudeCraft Manual Bread Slicer is a hand-crank bread slicer for homemade sourdough and crusty artisan loaves. You set the slice thickness once with the knob (up to 0.9 inch), press the suction-cup feet to secure the base, and turn the crank. A 7.6-inch stainless steel serrated circular blade cuts through the crust while the guide helps you cut more even slices than a knife. It fits loaves up to 5.5 inches tall and 10 inches wide — enough for a sourdough boule from an 8–10 inch banneton or a 9×5 sandwich loaf — and because you keep feeding the loaf forward, length is never a limit. It needs no electricity. It is made for home bakers who are tired of uneven, crushed or wedge-shaped slices from a bread knife.

The starter, the folds, the overnight proof, the moment the crust crackles out of the Dutch oven — then the bread knife wanders, the top tears, and half the loaf ends up as wedges and crumbs.
With a hand-crank slicer, slicing becomes the easy part. Set the thickness, turn the handle, and you get more even slices than a knife gives you. Slice the weekend loaf in one go, bag it and freeze it — that can be a week of sandwiches, school lunches and morning toast, ready when you are. That is why ten bread bags come in the box.

You probably already own a good bread knife. A knife cuts; it does not hold the loaf square or keep slice twelve the same as slice one. Here is how the three options compare.
| Feature | AltitudeCraft hand-crank slicer | Slicing guide + knife | Bread knife |
|---|---|---|---|
| Even thickness every slice | Set once on the knob, more even than a knife | Better, guide keeps the knife in line | Depends on your hand |
| Thickness setting | Adjustable up to 0.9 in, with cm/inch scale | Fixed or limited settings (varies) | Freehand |
| Hard sourdough crust | Serrated circular blade, you turn the crank | Long sawing strokes | Long sawing strokes |
| Needs a separate knife | No | Yes | — |
| Counter space | Needs a counter spot, does not fold | Small, often folds | A drawer |
| Best for | Bakers who slice a whole loaf at a time | Bakers on a tight budget | An occasional slice |

A crank slicer takes counter or cupboard space, and it shines on crusty sourdough and artisan loaves. Very soft, freshly baked sandwich bread can still compress under any blade — let every loaf cool completely before slicing for the cleanest cut.
Turn the knob to set thin toast slices, sandwich slices or thick slices for artisan bread — up to 0.9 inch (about 23 mm), read off the cm/inch scale on the base.
A 7.6-inch (19.3 cm) stainless steel serrated circular blade bites into a hard crust. It is removable with the included L-shaped wrench for cleaning.
Press the base down on a clean, dry, smooth countertop and the suction-cup feet hold it in place while you crank.
A broad solid wood base carries loaves up to 5.5 in tall and 10 in wide. Keep pushing a long loaf forward — there is no length limit.
A metal crank arm with a wooden ball handle drives the blade by hand. No motor, no cord, no batteries.

Sharp blade: keep fingers away from the blade path and let the blade stop fully before clearing crumbs. For adult use; keep children away while slicing.
Not included: a bread knife, a scoring lame or spare blades. Arrives in a printed AltitudeCraft color box.

Sourdough sheds crumbs — that is part of a good crust. After slicing, let the blade stop, then sweep crumbs off the blade and base with the included brush. For a deeper clean, remove the blade with the L-shaped wrench and wipe it with care — the edge is sharp. Dry everything before storing.
We recommend cleaning by hand.

Yes. The stainless steel serrated blade comes off with the included L-shaped wrench for cleaning.
No. The box contains the slicer, an L-shaped wrench, a cleaning brush and 10 paper bread bags. A spare blade, a bread knife and a scoring lame are not included.
Anywhere up to 0.9 inch (about 23 mm). Turn the knob and read the cm/inch scale on the base.
The base has suction-cup feet. Press it down on a clean, dry, smooth, non-porous countertop before you slice. Textured or dusty surfaces hold less well.
It is designed for crusty sourdough and artisan loaves. Very soft, fresh bread can compress under any blade, so let it cool completely first for the best result.
It fits loaves up to 5.5 inches tall and 10 inches wide. That covers boules baked from 8, 9 and 10 inch round bannetons and standard 9×5 sandwich loaves. If a loaf is bigger than that, cut it in half first.
Length is not limited — you keep pushing the loaf forward for the next slice.
No, it has a fixed frame, so plan a counter or cupboard spot for it.
One year as standard. Register your slicer on our website to extend the warranty to three years.
