If trimming leaves you hunched over the shaft, the problem is where your hands sit, not how hard you work. The AltitudeCraft Ergonomic Weed Eater Handle adds a second grip point higher on the shaft, so you can stand upright while you trim or edge. It clamps onto straight round shafts from 22 mm to 28 mm (0.86"–1.1") and most standard square shafts, weighs 0.9 lb, and goes on with 4 bolts and the included Allen wrench.

Will It Fit Your Trimmer?

Measure the shaft where you want the handle to sit before you order. That one number decides fit, not the brand on the motor.

  • Fits: straight round shafts 22–28 mm (0.86"–1.1") in diameter, and most standard square shafts.
  • Model numbers confirmed in our Amazon listing: DCST922B, DCST922P1, DCST972X1, CMCST910, LST136B, LST136W, LST201, LST300, LSTE525, BESTA510, ST1502SA, ST1521S, STBA40B210, ME0820, WG154, WG163, WG170, WG183.
  • Other brands (Echo, Stihl, Husqvarna, Ego, Ryobi, Milwaukee and more): fit depends on your shaft diameter, not the brand. If your shaft measures 22–28 mm and is straight where the handle goes, the clamp is designed for it.
  • Check first if: your shaft is under 22 mm or over 28 mm, is curved where you want the grip, or has no clear straight section between the motor housing and the factory handle.

Not sure? See the fitment FAQ or our Echo fitment guide.

What It Does

  • A higher second grip: the extra pivot point lets you keep a more upright posture instead of bending over the shaft. Reviewers call it a "must-have for tall people."
  • Adjustable: set the angle and the position along the shaft to match your height and the way you trim.
  • Aluminum, not steel: 6061 aluminum alloy keeps the added weight to 0.9 lb.
  • Patented design: the handle's shape is protected by U.S. Design Patent D1,041,514.
  • Four-bolt clamp: secure the clamp with 4 bolts and the included Allen wrench.
  • Use it past summer: it also helps with fall edging and yard cleanup. On compatible shaft-mounted power brooms and handheld electric snow shovels with a 22–28 mm straight shaft, it adds a raised grip for guiding the tool. Confirm shaft size, mounting space and that your tool permits an add-on handle, and keep required handles and controls unobstructed.

How to Install

  1. Loosen the 4 clamp bolts with the included Allen wrench until the clamp opens around your shaft.
  2. Place the clamp on a straight section of the shaft, at the height where you can hold the trimmer without bending your back.
  3. Tighten the bolts evenly, alternating between them, until the clamp is firm.
  4. Adjust the handle angle, lock it, and give it a firm tug before you start the trimmer.

Keep the factory handle, throttle and safety controls clear of the new grip.

Who It's For — and Who It Isn't

  • Good fit: taller users, anyone who finds themselves bending over a short shaft, homeowners with long edging runs, and crews who trim for hours at a time.
  • Not the right fix: trimmers with a shaft outside 22–28 mm, or a curved shaft with no straight section for the clamp. If most of your fatigue is from carrying the weight rather than bending, a shoulder strap or harness may help more — read what a handle actually fixes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will it fit my Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Ego or Ryobi trimmer?
Measure the shaft where the handle will sit. If it is straight and 22–28 mm in diameter, the clamp is designed for it. The model numbers we have confirmed are listed under "Will It Fit Your Trimmer?" above.
  • Does it fit DeWalt trimmers?
DCST922B, DCST922P1 and DCST972X1 are on our confirmed list. For other DeWalt models, measure the shaft.
  • Is it heavy?
No. It is 6061 aluminum alloy and weighs 0.9 lb.
  • Can I adjust it for my height?
Yes. You set both the position along the shaft and the handle angle.
  • How long does installation take?
About 10 minutes with the included Allen wrench. No power tools needed.
  • What is the warranty?
1 year. You can apply for a 3-year extended warranty on altitudecraft.com.
  • Will it stop my back pain?
We can't promise that. It lets you hold the trimmer higher so you don't have to bend over the shaft. If you have a back condition, ask your doctor what's right for you.

works great

With a little adjustment for the height of the person and for arm length it works great. Did some weed eating with it Saturday for an hour or so.
